Hi, I’m Yanick

Over the past few years, I’ve been building a personal knowledge base to document everything I learn. My focus is on the topics I enjoy most: Linux, the terminal, cloud services, scripting, coding, and security. I spend most of my evenings exploring and documenting. It’s how I learn best.

Now, I’m ready for a change. I want to move into tech professionally, turning what has been a passion project into my full-time career.

This blog is part of that journey. It’s a long-term commitment where I share what I learn and explain complex topics in a clear and practical way. Writing helps me stay sharp, organised, and focused. Articles are updated regularly to keep them accurate and relevant.

None of my family, friends, or colleagues share my passion for Linux or working in the command-line interface to get thing done. That motivates me to educate, inspire, and show what’s possible.

The goal: to turn this blog into a goldmine of practical, easy-to-understand information. If even one post helps you solve a problem or learn something new, then this blog has done its job.

Skills

Systems & Automation

I work confidently with Linux and macOS, setting up systems from the command line, automating workflows, managing cloud infrastructure, and applying practical security practices. I focus on efficient, reliable setups that are easy to maintain and well-documented.

Web Development

I build fast, responsive websites with clean, maintainable code. My approach is mobile-first and content-focused, ensuring a smooth experience across devices. I develop with Kirby CMS, my preferred tool for its simplicity, flexibility and zero bloat.

Photography

With 10 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I know how to capture high-quality images. I especially enjoy portrait photography, which I now focus on with my children. I'm also exploring new creative tools like Krea AI to generate visuals from prompts.

Documenting

I’m passionate about documenting my learnings and have developed a personal documentation system I use daily. It’s essential for working with Linux, system setup, and troubleshooting, helping me resolve issues efficiently and find answers quickly.
